Ziebach County is a one of the county from South Dakota's 66 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 2519 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 2542, It is 15th least populous county in South Dakota. It has total area of 1971.05 square miles (5105 square kilometre), of which, 1962.33 square miles (5082.41 square kilometre) of it is land and 8.72 square miles (22.58 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the ninth largest by total area in South Dakota.

In the county the population was distributed as follows: 40.6% under the age of 18, 10.8% from 18 to 24, 24.7% from 25 to 44, 16.5% from 45 to 64, and 7.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.1 males. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 2542, The racial makeup of the county was 655 White, 0 Black or African American, 1851 American Indian, 5 Asian, 0 Native Hawaiian, and 31 from two or more races.
