Yukon-koyukuk Census Area, Alaska is a census area of the United States of Alaska. Yukon-koyukuk Census Area had an official population of 6551 in 2000. The census area's estimated population as of July 2008 was 5701, It is the 17th largest census area by population in the U.S. state of Alaska. The census area comprises an area of 147842.51 mi˛ (382910.34 square kilometre), of which, 145899.69 square miles (377878.46 square kilometre) of it is land and 1942.83 square miles (5031.91 square kilometre) of it is water, giving it the largest by total area among Alaska's county.


As of the census of 2000, there were 6551 residents, 2309 households, and 1480 families in the census area. The population density was 0 people per square mile (0/km˛), making its Alaska's least densely populated census area. There were 3917 housing units at an average density of 0 per square mile (0/km˛). The average household size was 2.81 persons, and the average family size was 3.53 persons. In the census area Population was distributed with 35% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 22.1% from 45 to 64, and 7.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 118.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 122.6 males. The July 2008 population estimate is 5701, The racial or ethnic makeup of the census area was 24.59% White, 0.19% Black or African American, 70.53% American Indian, 0.42% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 4.21% from two or more races.
