York City is a one of the York County, South Carolina, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. The city has a population of 6985 as per the 2000 census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 7967, It is 64th most populous in South Carolina. It has total area of 7.94 sq mi (20.56 kmē), of which, 7.87 square miles (20.38 kmē) of it is land and 0.07 square miles (0.18 kmē) of it is water, making it the 60th largest by size in South Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 6985 people, 2536 households, and 1788 families living in the city. The population density was 887.6 people per square mile (342.7/kmē), giving it the 146th most densely populated city among the South Carolina.
