Yell County is a United States county located in the United States of Arkansas. The population of county in 2000 stood at 21139 as per the Census data. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 21976, making it Arkansas's 34th largest county. The county has a total area of 948.84 mi˛ (2457.48 sq km), of which, 927.89 square miles (2403.22 sq km) of it is land and 20.95 square miles (54.26 sq km) of it is water, makes it the fifth largest by total area in Arkansas.

In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 25.8% under the age of 18, 8.9% from 18 to 24, 28.3% from 25 to 44, 22% from 45 to 64, and 15% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.3 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 21976, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 20954 White, 377 Black or African American, 150 American Indian, 232 Asian, 9 Native Hawaiian, and 254 from two or more races.
