Wyoming County is a United States county located in the United States of New York. The population of the county was 43424 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 41652, giving it the eighth smallest population among New York's county. The county comprises an area of 596.44 miē (1544.77 kmē), of which, 592.91 square miles (1535.63 kmē) of it is land and 3.53 square miles (9.14 kmē) of it is water, making it the 41st largest by size in New York.

The population density was 73.2 people per square mile (28.26/kmē), it is the 18th least populated county in terms of population density. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.1% under the age of 18, 8.2% from 18 to 24, 32.8% from 25 to 44, 22.8% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 118.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 122.4 males. In July 2008, its estimated population was 41652, The racial makeup of the county was 92.5% White, 5.97% Black or African American, 0.33% American Indian, 0.55% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.62% from two or more races.
