Wynne City is one of the city of Cross County, Arkansas, located towards the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The city has a population of 8615 as per the 2000 census data. The July 2008 population estimate is 8437, giving it the 42nd largest population among Arkansas. The city extends throughout a territory of 8.17 mi˛ (21.16 sq km ), of which, 8.15 square miles (21.11 sq km) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 sq km) of it is water, it is the 59th largest by area in the U.S. state of Arkansas.

As of the census of 2000, there were 8615 people in the city, organized into 3245 households, and 2325 families residing in the city. The population density was 1056.5 people per square mile (407.92/km˛), it is Arkansas's 78th most densely populated city. There were 3476 housing units at an average density of 426.5 per square mile (164.67/km˛). The average household size was 2.56 people, and the average family size was 3.09 people. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 28.7% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 27.4% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 14.8% who were 65 or older.
