Wrangell City is a city located in the Wrangell-Petersburg Census Area, Alaska, United States. As of 2000 the population was 2308. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 1990, It is the 34th largest by population in the U.S. state of Alaska. The city comprises an area of 70.84 miē (183.47 kmē), of which, 45.28 square miles (117.27 kmē) of it is land and 25.57 square miles (66.23 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 91st largest by total area among Alaska. It is ranks 18 in the size of its inland waterways in Alaska.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 2308 people, 907 households, and 623 families living in the city. The population density was 51 people per square mile (19.69/kmē), making it the 100th most densely populated city in Alaska.
