Woodward County is a county located in Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. In 2000, the population was 18486. Its population was estimated at 19838 in July 2008, It is Oklahoma's 41st most populous county. The county has a total area of 1246.01 sq mi (3227.15 kmē), of which, 1242.3 square miles (3217.54 kmē) of it is land and 3.71 square miles (9.61 kmē) of it is water, it is the 11th largest by area in the U.S. state of Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 18486 people, 7141 households, and 5078 families residing in the county. The population density was 14.9 people per square mile (5.75/kmē), making its Oklahoma's 24th least densely populated county. There were 8341 housing units at an average density of 6.7 per square mile (2.59/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 people, and the average family size was 2.96 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 25.8% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 23.2% from 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 100.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 99.5 females. The July 2008 population estimate is 19838, The racial makeup of the county was 92.83% White, 2.21% Black or African American, 2.72% American Indian, 0.51% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 1.68% from two or more races.
