As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 23141, It is the 82nd most populous in the U.S. state of Georgia. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 8.83 square miles (22.87 kmē), of which, 8.81 square miles (22.82 kmē) of it is land and 0.02 square miles (0.05 kmē) of it is water, it is the 96th largest by area in the U.S. state of Georgia.
