Wood County is a county located in the United States of Wisconsin. In 2000, the population was 75555. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 73756, making it the 22nd most populous county in Wisconsin. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 809.46 mi˛ (2096.49 square kilometre), of which, 792.78 square miles (2053.29 square kilometre) of it is land and 16.68 square miles (43.2 square kilometre) of it is water, making it the 39th largest by size in Wisconsin.

The population density was 95.3 people per square mile (36.8/km˛), making it the 21st most densely populated county in Wisconsin. There were 31691 housing units at an average density of 40 per square mile (15.44/km˛). The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 3.01. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 25.7% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 28.4% from 25 to 44, 22.9% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 73756, The racial makeup of the county was 96.23% White, 0.57% Black or African American, 0.82% American Indian, 1.58% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.78% from two or more races.
