Wisconsin Rapids City is one of the city of Wood County, Wisconsin, located towards the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. It is home to over 18435 people (2000 census). Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 17164, It is 37th most populous in Wisconsin. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.11 mi˛ (36.54 sq km), of which, 13.26 square miles (34.34 sq km) of it is land and 0.85 square miles (2.2 sq km) of it is water, it is the 41st largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 18435 people, 76 households, and 48 families residing in the city. The population density was 1390 people per square mile (536.68/km˛), making its Wisconsin's 151st most densely populated city. There were 8426 housing units at an average density of 635.4 per square mile (245.33/km˛). The average household size was 2.26 persons, and the average family size was 2.93 persons. In the city the population was spread out, with 24.7% under the age of 18, 8.5% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 19.8% from 45 to 64, and 19.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 111 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 116.1 females.
