Wisconsin, is a state located in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. In 2000, state's population was 5363675 inhabitants. The state's estimated population as of July 2008 was 5627967, It is the 18th most populous in the U.S. state of America. It has total area of 65497.82 mi˛ (169638.58 square kilometre), of which, 54310.1 square miles (140662.51 square kilometre) of it is land and 11187.72 square miles (28976.06 square kilometre) of it is water, making it United States's 23rd largest by total area. It is ranks fourth in the size of its inland waterways in United States.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5363675 people in the state, organized into 2084544 households, and 1386815 families living in the state. The population density was 98.8 people per square mile (38.15/km˛), making its United States's 24th most densely populated state. There were 2321144 housing units at an average density of 42.7 per square mile (16.49/km˛). The average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 3.05 persons. In the state the population was spread out, with 25.5% under the age of 18, 9.7% from 18 to 24, 29.5% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 13.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 95.1 males. The median age is 36 years, The median age of males and females living in Wisconsin was 35 and 37.1 years respectively. The state's estimated population as of July 2008 was 5363675, The racial makeup of the state was 88.93% White, 5.68% Black or African American, 0.88% American Indian, 1.65% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, 1.25% from two or more races and 1.58% Other races.
