Winnebago County is a county located in Wisconsin, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 156763. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 162111, It is the eighth largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 578.7 sq mi (1498.83 sq km), of which, 438.58 square miles (1135.92 sq km) of it is land and 140.12 square miles (362.91 sq km) of it is water, making it the tenth smallest by size in Wisconsin.

The population density was 357.4 people per square mile (137.99/kmē), it would be the sixth most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. There were 64721 housing units at an average density of 147.6 per square mile (56.99/kmē). The average household size was 2.43 people, and the average family size was 2.99 people. Age range in the county was well distributed with 23.8% under the age of 18, 11.8% from 18 to 24, 30.4% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97.8 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 162111, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.06% White, 1.51% Black or African American, 0.58% American Indian, 1.85% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.98% from two or more races.
