Wilson County is one of the 95 county of Tennessee, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 88809 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 109803, It is the 12th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The county encompasses an area of 583.2 square miles (1510.48 kmē ), of which, 570.57 square miles (1477.77 kmē) of it is land and 12.63 square miles (32.71 kmē) of it is water, it is the 19th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 88809 people, 32798 households, and 25595 families residing in the county. The population density was 155.6 people per square mile (60.08/kmē), it is 19th most densely populated county in Tennessee. There were 34921 housing units at an average density of 61.2 per square mile (23.63/kmē). The average household size was 2.67 persons, and the average family size was 3.03 persons. In the county the population was distributed as follows: 26.2% under the age of 18, 7.7% from 18 to 24, 31.7% from 25 to 44, 24.7% from 45 to 64, and 9.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 97.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 94.8 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 109803, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 90.76% White, 7.02% Black or African American, 0.34% American Indian, 0.78% Asian, 0.04% Native Hawaiian, and 1.06% from two or more races.
