Wilmington City is a city located in New Castle County, Delaware, in the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Wilmington City is home to 72664 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 72592, It is second most populous in Delaware. The city extends throughout a territory of 17.02 sq mi (44.08 kmē ), of which, 10.85 square miles (28.1 kmē) of it is land and 6.17 square miles (15.98 kmē) of it is water, makes it the third largest by total area in Delaware. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in Delaware.
