Williamson County is one of the 95 county of Tennessee, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Williamson County is home to 126638 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 171452, It is the sixth most populous county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. The county comprises an area of 583.62 square miles (1511.57 sq km), of which, 582.68 square miles (1509.13 sq km) of it is land and 0.94 square miles (2.43 sq km) of it is water, making it the 18th largest by size in Tennessee.

As of the census of 2000, there were 126638 people, 44725 households, and 35758 families living in the county. The population density was 217.3 people per square mile (83.9/kmē), making its Tennessee's 12th most densely populated county. There were 47005 housing units at an average density of 80.7 per square mile (31.16/kmē). The average household size was 2.81 and the average family size was 3.18. In the county the population was spread out, with 29.5% under the age of 18, 6.2% from 18 to 24, 31.6% from 25 to 44, 24.9% from 45 to 64, and 7.7% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 106.8 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 171452, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 156494 White, 9122 Black or African American, 346 American Indian, 3951 Asian, 42 Native Hawaiian, and 1497 from two or more races.
