Williams County, North Dakota is a county of the United States of North Dakota. As of 2000 the population was 19761. Its population was estimated at 19846 in July 2008, It is eighth most populous county in North Dakota. Its area is just over 2147.97 mi˛ (5563.22 square kilometre), of which, 2070.46 square miles (5362.47 square kilometre) of it is land and 77.51 square miles (200.75 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the fourth largest by area in the U.S. state of North Dakota. It is ranks sixth in the size of its inland waterways in North Dakota.

As of the census of 2000, there were 19761 residents, 8095 households, and 5261 families in the county. The population density was 9.5 people per square mile (3.67/km˛), it is North Dakota's 13th most densely populated county. There were 9680 housing units at an average density of 4.7 per square mile (1.81/km˛). The average household size was 2.38 persons, and the average family size was 2.99 persons. In the county Population was distributed with 26.2% under the age of 18, 7.8% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 24% from 45 to 64, and 16.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 93.6 males. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 19846, The racial makeup of the county was 92.2% White, 0.33% Black or African American, 4.83% American Indian, 0.3% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 2.33% from two or more races.
