Wilkin County is a county located in the United States of Minnesota. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 7138 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 6286, making it Minnesota's tenth smallest county. The county extends throughout a territory of 751.63 sq mi (1946.71 kmē ), of which, 751.43 square miles (1946.19 kmē) of it is land and 0.2 square miles (0.52 kmē) of it is water, giving it the 35th largest by total area among Minnesota's county.

The population density was 9.5 people per square mile (3.67/kmē), it is the 12th least densely populated county in the U.S. state of Minnesota. There were 3105 housing units at an average density of 4.1 per square mile (1.58/kmē). The average household size was 2.54 people, and the average family size was 3.09 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 27.8% under the age of 18, 7% from 18 to 24, 27.7% from 25 to 44, 21.5% from 45 to 64, and 16.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 104.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.1 females. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 6286, The racial makeup of the county was 6132 White, 15 Black or African American, 56 American Indian, 13 Asian, 1 Native Hawaiian, and 69 from two or more races.
