Wildwood City is a United States city located in the Cape May County, New Jersey, United States. It is home to over 5436 people (2000 census). In July 2008, its estimated population was 5259, making it the 271st most populous in New Jersey. It covers total area of 1.38 mi˛ (3.57 sq km), of which, 1.29 square miles (3.34 sq km) of it is land and 0.09 square miles (0.23 sq km) of it is water, it is the 145th smallest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5436 people in the city, organized into 457 households, and 284 families living in the city. The population density was 4212.6 people per square mile (1626.49/km˛), it is New Jersey's 152nd most densely populated city. There were 6488 housing units at an average density of 5029.5 per square mile (1941.9/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.3 persons, and the average family size was 3.06 persons. In the Wildwood City, 25.7% of the population was under the age of 18, 10.5% were 18 to 24, 27.7% were 25 to 44, 21.9% were 45 to 64, and 14.2% who were 65 or older. The median age was 35.5 years, the median age of male residents at 34.1 and the median age of female residents at 36.8. The racial makeup of the city was 3835 White, 905 Black or African American, 21 American Indian, 26 Asian, 8 Native Hawaiian, 160 from two or more races and 481 Ohter races.
