Wilcox County is one of the 67 county of Alabama, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 13183. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 12803, It is the sixth smallest in terms of population. It is spread over 907.46 square miles (2350.31 kmē), of which, 888.68 square miles (2301.67 kmē ) of it is land and 18.78 square miles (48.64 kmē) of it is water, it is the 15th largest by area in the U.S. state of Alabama.

Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 12803, The racial makeup of the county was 3497 White, 9225 Black or African American, 20 American Indian, 21 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 38 from two or more races.
