As of July 2008, the estimated population was 94046, giving it the 14th largest population among Maryland's county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 399.79 square miles (1035.45 kmē), of which, 377.17 square miles (976.87 kmē) of it is land and 22.62 square miles (58.59 kmē) of it is water, makes it the fifth smallest by total area in Maryland.
