Whiting City is a city located in Lake County, Indiana, in the Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. The population of city in 2000 stood at 5137 as per the Census data. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 4751, It is the 118th most populous in the U.S. state of Indiana. The city has a total area of 3.28 square miles (8.5 square kilometre), of which, 1.76 square miles (4.56 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.52 square miles (3.94 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 137th largest by area in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Indiana.
