Whitemarsh Island Cdp is a United States census designated place located in the Chatham County, Georgia, United States. The population of the census designated place was 5824 as per the 2000 census data. It is the 123rd most populous in the U.S. state of Georgia. Its area is just over 6.61 mi˛ (17.12 sq km), of which, 5.9 square miles (15.28 sq km) of it is land and 0.71 square miles (1.84 sq km) of it is water, making it Georgia's 130th largest by total area. It is ranks 18 in the size of its inland waterways in Georgia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 5824 residents, 2302 households, and 1609 families in the census designated place. The population density was 987.5 people per square mile (381.28/km˛), giving it the 141st most densely populated census designated place among the Georgia. There were 2427 housing units at an average density of 411.4 per square mile (158.84/km˛). The average household size was 2.53 and the average family size was 2.99.
