White Pine County is a one of the county from Nevada's 17 counties, located in Western Region (Mountain) of United States. The county has a population of 9181 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 9199, It is the tenth most populous county in the U.S. state of Nevada. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 8896.6 sq mi (23042.09 kmē), of which, 8875.98 square miles (22988.68 kmē) of it is land and 20.62 square miles (53.41 kmē) of it is water, making it Nevada's fifth largest county by total area. It is ranks tenth in the size of its inland waterways in Nevada.


According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 9181 people, 3282 households, and 2161 families living in the county. The population density was 1 people per square mile (0.39/kmē), it is Nevada's fourth least densely populated county. There were 4439 housing units at an average density of 0.5 per square mile (0.19/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.42 persons, and the average family size was 3.01 persons. In the county the population was spread out, with 24.2% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 29.9% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 13.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 77.8 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 72.2 females. In July 2008, its estimated population was 9199, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 8163 White, 399 Black or African American, 378 American Indian, 91 Asian, 24 Native Hawaiian, and 144 from two or more races.
