White County is a United States county located in the United States of Tennessee. The population of the county was 23102 as per the 2000 census data. Its population was estimated at 25129 in July 2008, It is the 58th most populous county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. Its area is just over 379.39 mi˛ (982.62 sq km), of which, 376.58 square miles (975.34 sq km) of it is land and 2.8 square miles (7.25 sq km) of it is water, making it Tennessee's 61st largest county by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 23102 people, 9229 households, and 6771 families living in the county. The population density was 61.3 people per square mile (23.67/km˛), it is the 50th most densely populated county in the U.S. state of Tennessee. There were 10191 housing units at an average density of 27.1 per square mile (10.46/km˛). The average household size was 2.47 and the average family size was 2.9. In the county the population was spread out, with 23.5% under the age of 18, 7.9% from 18 to 24, 27.9% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.4 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 25129, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 96.78% White, 1.83% Black or African American, 0.23% American Indian, 0.28% Asian, 0.05% Native Hawaiian, and 0.84% from two or more races.
