Wheeling City is a one of the Ohio and Marshall counties, West Virginia, located in Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, city's population was 31419 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 28913, giving it the fourth largest population among West Virginia. The city encompasses an area of 15.82 mi˛ (40.97 square kilometre ), of which, 13.91 square miles (36.03 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.91 square miles (4.95 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the ninth largest by total area in West Virginia. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in West Virginia.
