Wheeler County is a county located in Oregon, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 1547. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 1319, It is the smallest in terms of population. It is spread over 1715.46 sq mi (4443.02 kmē), of which, 1714.92 square miles (4441.62 kmē ) of it is land and 0.55 square miles (1.42 kmē) of it is water, making it Oregon's 22nd largest county by total area.

The population density was 0.9 people per square mile (0.35/kmē), giving it the third least densely populated county among the Oregon. The population's age distribution was 22.7% under the age of 18, 3.4% from 18 to 24, 19.3% from 25 to 44, 31.4% from 45 to 64, and 23.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 102.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97 males.
