Wheatland County is a United States county located in the United States of Montana. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 2259 inhabitants. The July 2008 population estimate is 2010, It is Montana's 13th least populous county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1428.29 sq mi (3699.25 square kilometre), of which, 1423.09 square miles (3685.79 square kilometre) of it is land and 5.19 square miles (13.44 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the ninth smallest by area in the U.S. state of Montana.

As of the census of 2000, there were 2259 people, 853 households, and 541 families living in the county. The population density was 1.6 people per square mile (0.62/kmē), it is 17th least densely populated county in Montana. There were 1154 housing units at an average density of 0.8 per square mile (0.31/kmē). It has an average household size was 2.24 persons, and the average family size was 2.86 persons. In the county Age distribution was 26.8% under the age of 18, 6.4% from 18 to 24, 22% from 25 to 44, 25.5% from 45 to 64, and 19.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 102.1 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 100.9 females. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 2010, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 1935 White, 4 Black or African American, 28 American Indian, 5 Asian, 6 Native Hawaiian, and 32 from two or more races.
