Wewahitchka City is a United States city located in the Gulf County, Florida, United States. In 2000, the population was 1722. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 1665, making it the 237th least populous in Florida. The city comprises an area of 7.43 sq mi (19.24 square kilometre), of which, 6.21 square miles (16.08 square kilometre) of it is land and 1.22 square miles (3.16 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 243rd largest in terms of geographical size.

According to 2000 Census Bureau, there were 1722 people, 696 households, and 483 families living in the city. The population density was 277.4 people per square mile (107.1/kmē), it is Florida's 81st least densely populated city. There were 894 housing units at an average density of 144 per square mile (55.6/kmē). The average household size was 2.47 persons, and the average family size was 3.01 persons. In the city the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.8% under the age of 18, 7.4% from 18 to 24, 24% from 25 to 44, 25% from 45 to 64, and 16.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 90.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 85.7 males. The median age of the city's population was 39.2 years, the median age of male residents at 38.3 and the median age of female residents at 40.1. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 89.61% White, 7.55% Black or African American, 0.64% American Indian, 0.75% Asian, 0.17% Native Hawaiian, 1.28% from two or more races and 0% Other races.
