Westmoreland County is a county in the United States of Pennsylvania. In 2000, the population was 369993. The July 2008 population estimate is 361589, It is tenth most populous county in Pennsylvania. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 1036.34 sq mi (2684.11 kmē), of which, 1025.48 square miles (2655.98 kmē) of it is land and 10.86 square miles (28.13 kmē) of it is water, making it the tenth largest by size in Pennsylvania.

The population density was 360.8 people per square mile (139.31/kmē), it is 16th most densely populated county in Pennsylvania. There were 161058 housing units at an average density of 157.1 per square mile (60.66/kmē). The average household size was 2.41 people, and the average family size was 2.93 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 22% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 27.5% from 25 to 44, 25.4% from 45 to 64, and 18.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 93.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 89.7 males. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 361589, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 95.97% White, 2.46% Black or African American, 0.1% American Indian, 0.66% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 0.79% from two or more races.
