It is the 105th smallest by population in the U.S. state of Virginia. Its area is just over 11.48 mi˛ (29.73 sq km), of which, 10.08 square miles (26.11 sq km) of it is land and 1.4 square miles (3.63 sq km) of it is water, it is the 51st largest in terms of geographical size. It is ranks 16 in the size of its inland waterways in Virginia.
