West Salem Village is a one of the La Crosse County, Wisconsin, located in Midwestern Region (East North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 4540. In July 2008, its estimated population was 4823, It is the 135th largest in terms of population. Its area is just over 2.39 sq mi (6.19 square kilometre), of which, 2.38 square miles (6.16 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.01 square miles (0.03 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 279th largest in terms of geographical size.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4540 residents, 76 households, and 48 families in the city. The population density was 1911.2 people per square mile (737.92/kmē), giving it the 84th most densely populated city among the Wisconsin. There were 1765 housing units at an average density of 741.6 per square mile (286.33/kmē). The average household size was 2.61 people, and the average family size was 3.09 people.
