West Newton Borough is one of the borough of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, located towards the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the West Newton Borough is home to 3083 inhabitants. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the borough is 2848, It is Pennsylvania's 446th largest by population . The borough extends throughout a territory of 1.23 square miles (3.19 kmē ), of which, 1.13 square miles (2.93 kmē) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 kmē) of it is water, making it Pennsylvania's 621st largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 3083 residents, 1318 households, and 830 families in the borough. In the borough the population is diverse age-wise, with 21.3% under the age of 18, 7.6% from 18 to 24, 27.6% from 25 to 44, 22.2% from 45 to 64, and 21.3% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 86.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.5 males. The median age of the borough's population was 41.5 years, The median age of males was 38.6 years, for females the median age was 43.6 years. The racial or ethnic makeup of the borough was 3006 White, 35 Black or African American, 5 American Indian, 7 Asian, Native Hawaiian, 25 from two or more races and 5 Ohter races.
