West Des Moines City is a city in the Polk, Dallas and Warren counties, Iowa, United States. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 46403 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 55426, It is Iowa's tenth largest by population . It covers total area of 27.57 sq mi (71.41 sq km), of which, 26.78 square miles (69.36 sq km) of it is land and 0.79 square miles (2.05 sq km) of it is water, making it Iowa's tenth largest by total area. It is ranks 16 in the size of its inland waterways in Iowa.
