Webster County, West Virginia is a county of the United States of West Virginia. The county has a population of 9719 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 9394, giving it the tenth smallest population among West Virginia's county. Its area is just over 556.15 sq mi (1440.42 square kilometre), of which, 555.97 square miles (1439.96 square kilometre) of it is land and 0.18 square miles (0.47 square kilometre) of it is water, it is the 12th largest by area in the U.S. state of West Virginia.

As of the census of 2000, there were 9719 residents, 4010 households, and 2816 families in the county. The population density was 17.5 people per square mile (6.76/kmē), it is third least densely populated county in West Virginia. There were 5273 housing units at an average density of 9.5 per square mile (3.67/kmē). The average household size was 2.41 people, and the average family size was 2.89 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 23% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 27.1% from 45 to 64, and 15.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103.2 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 106 females. As of July 2008, the estimated population was 9394, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 98.8% White, 0.01% Black or African American, 0.07% American Indian, 0.38% Asian, 0.01% Native Hawaiian, and 0.72% from two or more races.
