Webster County, Iowa is a county located in the Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 40235 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 38517, It is the 17th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. The county spans an area of 718.05 mi˛ (1859.74 sq km), of which, 715.23 square miles (1852.44 sq km) of it is land and 2.82 square miles (7.3 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 12th largest by total area in Iowa.

As of the census of 2000, there were 40235 people, 15878 households, and 10300 families residing in the county. The population density was 56.3 people per square mile (21.74/km˛), making its Iowa's 20th most densely populated county. There were 16969 housing units at an average density of 23.7 per square mile (9.15/km˛). The average household size was 2.38 people, and the average family size was 2.97 people. In the county Population was distributed with 24.5% under the age of 18, 11.1% from 18 to 24, 25.5% from 25 to 44, 21.6% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.2 males. Its population was estimated at 38517 in July 2008, The racial makeup of the county was 36020 White, 1515 Black or African American, 155 American Indian, 308 Asian, 25 Native Hawaiian, and 494 from two or more races.
