Wayne County is one of the 29 county of Utah, located towards the Western Region (Mountain) of United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Wayne County is home to 2509 inhabitants. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 2589, It is the fourth smallest in terms of population. The county encompasses an area of 2466.47 sq mi (6388.13 kmē ), of which, 2460.32 square miles (6372.2 kmē) of it is land and 6.15 square miles (15.93 kmē) of it is water, it is the 14th largest by area in the U.S. state of Utah.

The population density was 1 people per square mile (0.39/kmē), it is the second least populated county in terms of population density. In the county Age distribution was 32.4% under the age of 18, 8.1% from 18 to 24, 22.5% from 25 to 44, 22.6% from 45 to 64, and 14.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 103.5 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.5 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 2589, The racial makeup of the county was 2542 White, 4 Black or African American, 13 American Indian, 3 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, and 20 from two or more races.
