Wayne County is a county in the United States of Pennsylvania. The population of county in 2000 stood at 47722 as per the Census data. Its population was estimated at 52016 in July 2008, It is the 44th largest county by population in the U.S. state of Pennsylvania. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 750.54 mi˛ (1943.89 sq km), of which, 729.22 square miles (1888.67 sq km) of it is land and 21.32 square miles (55.22 sq km) of it is water, making it Pennsylvania's 29th largest county by total area. It is ranks fifth in the size of its inland waterways in Pennsylvania.

The population density was 65.4 people per square mile (25.25/km˛), it is 16th least densely populated county in Pennsylvania. There were 30593 housing units at an average density of 42 per square mile (16.22/km˛). It has an average household size was 2.5 persons, and the average family size was 2.98 persons. Age range in the county was well distributed with 24% under the age of 18, 6.1% from 18 to 24, 26.8% from 25 to 44, 25.6% from 45 to 64, and 17.5% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 100.7 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 98.5 males. The county's estimated population as of July 2008 was 52016, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 49630 White, 1631 Black or African American, 80 American Indian, 350 Asian, 2 Native Hawaiian, and 323 from two or more races.
