Wayne County, New York is a county located in the Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. As per the 2000 census, county has a population of 93765 inhabitants. In July 2008, its estimated population was 91564, It is the 31st largest in terms of population. It covers total area of 1384.14 mi˛ (3584.91 square kilometre), of which, 604.21 square miles (1564.9 square kilometre) of it is land and 779.93 square miles (2020.01 square kilometre) of it is water, making it New York's 11th largest county by total area. It is ranks second in the size of its inland waterways in New York.

As of the census of 2000, there were 93765 people in the county, organized into 34908 households, and 25066 families residing in the county. The population density was 155.2 people per square mile (59.92/km˛), giving it the 27th most densely populated county among the New York. There were 38767 housing units at an average density of 64.2 per square mile (24.79/km˛). The average household size was 2.64 people, and the average family size was 3.08 people. In the county the population was spread out, with 27.4% under the age of 18, 6.8% from 18 to 24, 30.1% from 25 to 44, 23.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.9 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 104.7 females. Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 91564, The racial makeup of the county was 94.38% White, 3.27% Black or African American, 0.32% American Indian, 0.56% Asian, 0.02% Native Hawaiian, and 1.45% from two or more races.
