Wayland City is one of the city of Floyd County, Kentucky, located towards the Southern Region (East South Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 298. Its population was estimated at 291 in July 2008, It is the 75th smallest by population in the U.S. state of Kentucky. It has total area of 0.69 mi˛ (1.79 square kilometre), making it Kentucky's 290th largest by total area.

As of the census of 2000, there were 298 people, 118 households, and 86 families residing in the city. The population density was 430.6 people per square mile (166.26/km˛), it is the 62nd least populated city in terms of population density.
