Watonwan County is a county in the United States of Minnesota. According to the 2000 census it had a population of 11876 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 10860, making it Minnesota's 22nd smallest county. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 439.92 sq mi (1139.39 sq km), of which, 434.51 square miles (1125.38 sq km) of it is land and 5.4 square miles (13.99 sq km) of it is water, making it the tenth smallest by size in Minnesota.

For every 100 males there were 104.8 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.9 females. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the county is 10860, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 97.13% White, 0.64% Black or African American, 0.49% American Indian, 1.03% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, and 0.69% from two or more races.
