Watonga City is a city located in Blaine County, Oklahoma, in the Southern Region (West South Central) of United States. The city has a population of 4658 as per the 2000 census data. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the city is 5657, It is the 72nd most populous in the U.S. state of Oklahoma. Its area is just over 2.74 sq mi (7.1 sq km), makes it the 248th largest by total area in Oklahoma.

As of the census of 2000, there were 4658 people, 1273 households, and 858 families residing in the city. The population density was 1703.1 people per square mile (657.57/kmē), it is 37th most densely populated city in Oklahoma. There were 1507 housing units at an average density of 550 per square mile (212.36/kmē). The average household size was 2.53 people, and the average family size was 3.16 people. In the city the population was spread out, with 20.5% under the age of 18, 12.5% from 18 to 24, 36.7% from 25 to 44, 17.9% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 169.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 191.1 males. The median age was 34 years, the median age of male residents at 32.4 and the median age of female residents at 38.9. The racial or ethnic makeup of the city was 2850 White, 714 Black or African American, 384 American Indian, 72 Asian, 94 Native Hawaiian, 316 from two or more races and 228 Ohter races.
