Watervliet City is a one of the Albany County, New York, located in Northeastern Region (Mid-Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, the population was 10207. The city's estimated population as of July 2008 was 9765, making it the 184th most populous in New York. The city encompasses an area of 1.49 square miles (3.86 sq km ), of which, 1.34 square miles (3.47 sq km) of it is land and 0.15 square miles (0.39 sq km) of it is water, making it the 653rd largest by size in New York.
