Waterville City is one of the city of Kennebec County, Maine, located towards the Northeastern Region (New England) of United States. The population of the city was 15605 as per the 2000 census data. According to July 2008 Census Bureau estimates, the population of the city is 16016, making it Maine's tenth largest. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 14.05 square miles (36.39 sq km), of which, 13.59 square miles (35.2 sq km) of it is land and 0.47 square miles (1.22 sq km) of it is water, it is the 23rd largest by area in the U.S. state of Maine.

As of the census of 2000, there were 15605 residents, 6218 households, and 3371 families in the city. The population density was 1148.7 people per square mile (443.52/kmē), giving it the 17th most densely populated city among the Maine. There were 6819 housing units at an average density of 501.8 per square mile (193.75/kmē). The average household size was 2.13 people, and the average family size was 2.84 people. In the city the population was spread out, with 19.7% under the age of 18, 18.5% from 18 to 24, 24.1% from 25 to 44, 19.5% from 45 to 64, and 18.1% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 117.7 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 122.4 females. The median age was 35.6 years, the median age of male residents at 32.8 and the median age of female residents at 38.2. The racial makeup of the city was 95.81% White, 0.78% Black or African American, 0.56% American Indian, 1.03% Asian, 0.03% Native Hawaiian, 1.36% from two or more races and 0.42% Other races.
