Its population in July 2008 was estimated to be about 66662, It is the fifth largest by population in the U.S. state of Iowa. The city comprises an area of 62.02 square miles (160.63 kmē), of which, 60.74 square miles (157.32 kmē) of it is land and 1.28 square miles (3.32 kmē) of it is water, it is the fourth largest by area in the U.S. state of Iowa. It is ranks eighth in the size of its inland waterways in Iowa.
