Washington County is a county located in Oregon, in the Western Region (Pacific) of United States. In 2000, the population was 445342. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 529216, It is Oregon's second most populous county. The county comprises an area of 726.38 square miles (1881.32 square kilometre), of which, 723.75 square miles (1874.5 square kilometre) of it is land and 2.63 square miles (6.81 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the sixth smallest by total area in Oregon.

As of the census of 2000, there were 445342 people in the county, organized into 169162 households, and 114074 families living in the county. The population density was 615.3 people per square mile (237.57/kmē), it is second most densely populated county in Oregon. There were 178913 housing units at an average density of 247.2 per square mile (95.44/kmē). The average household size was 2.61 people, and the average family size was 3.14 people. In the county the population is diverse age-wise, with 26.9% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 34.1% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 8.8% who were 65 or older. For every 100 females there were 99.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 97 males. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 529216, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 85.91% White, 1.99% Black or African American, 0.78% American Indian, 8.47% Asian, 0.35% Native Hawaiian, and 2.5% from two or more races.
