Washington County is a county in the United States of New York. The population of the county was 61042 as per the 2000 census data. In July 2008, its estimated population was 62804, It is 40th most populous county in New York. The county spans an area of 845.84 miē (2190.72 kmē), of which, 835.44 square miles (2163.78 kmē) of it is land and 10.4 square miles (26.94 kmē) of it is water, it is the 27th largest by area in the U.S. state of New York.

Its population was estimated at 62804 in July 2008, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 59718 White, 2124 Black or African American, 136 American Indian, 280 Asian, 22 Native Hawaiian, and 524 from two or more races.
