Washington County is a one of the county from Nebraska's 93 counties, located in Midwestern Region (West North Central) of United States. As of 2000 the population was 18780. As of July 2008, the estimated population of the county is 19812, It is the 17th largest in terms of population. The county has a total area of 393.76 mi˛ (1019.83 sq km), of which, 390.49 square miles (1011.36 sq km) of it is land and 3.27 square miles (8.47 sq km) of it is water, it is the fifth smallest in terms of geographical size.

The population density was 48.1 people per square mile (18.57/km˛), giving it the tenth most densely populated county among the Nebraska. In the county Age distribution was 27.1% under the age of 18, 9.3% from 18 to 24, 26.7% from 25 to 44, 24.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.9% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 101.3 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 103.9 females. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 19812, The racial makeup of the county was 19364 White, 169 Black or African American, 44 American Indian, 76 Asian, 20 Native Hawaiian, and 139 from two or more races.
