Washburn City is a city in the McLean County, North Dakota, United States. According to the latest population census dating back to 2000, the Washburn City is home to 1389 inhabitants. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 1239, making it North Dakota's 38th largest. The city extends throughout a territory of 1.88 sq mi (4.87 sq km ), of which, 1.78 square miles (4.61 sq km) of it is land and 0.11 square miles (0.28 sq km) of it is water, makes it the 42nd largest by total area in North Dakota. It is ranks 15 in the size of its inland waterways in North Dakota.
