Warren County is one of the 100 county of North Carolina, located towards the Southern Region (South Atlantic) of United States. In 2000, county's population was 19972 inhabitants. As of July 2008, the population was estimated at 19388, It is 19th least populous county in North Carolina. The county extends throughout a territory of 443.8 sq mi (1149.44 square kilometre ), of which, 428.7 square miles (1110.33 square kilometre) of it is land and 15.09 square miles (39.08 square kilometre) of it is water, makes it the 60th largest by total area in North Carolina.

As of the census of 2000, there were 19972 people, 7708 households, and 5448 families residing in the county. The population density was 46.6 people per square mile (17.99/kmē), making its North Carolina's 17th least densely populated county. There were 10548 housing units at an average density of 24.6 per square mile (9.5/kmē). The average household size was 2.48 and the average family size was 2.97. In the county the population was spread out, with 23.5% under the age of 18, 8% from 18 to 24, 26.3% from 25 to 44, 24.8% from 45 to 64, and 17.4% who were 65 or older. For every 100 males there were 103.5 females. For every 100 males age 18 and over, there were 105.3 females. It has an estimated population (as of July 2008) of 19388, The racial or ethnic makeup of the county was 7730 White, 10465 Black or African American, 981 American Indian, 41 Asian, 7 Native Hawaiian, and 164 from two or more races.
